Kickin It - Rising Star Award

The Kickin’ It Honors Gala is an annual celebration recognizing cultural leaders, innovators, and creatives who are shaping the future. Guided by the theme “Together We Bloom,” the 2025 gala spotlighted trailblazers across industries, from entertainment to fashion, who are preserving culture while pushing it forward. That year, I was honored with the Rising Star Award, celebrated alongside an inspiring group of honorees including Issa Rae, Michael Winter Jr., and other visionary creatives.

The award recognized my work as founder and lead designer of Igdalyah, a brand rooted in Caribbean culture and sustainability. For the gala, I wore my own design — the Looped Illusion Denim Midi Dress from Issue 003 — offering an early preview of the collection before its September launch. Wearing and presenting my own work on this platform created a unique moment of alignment between my personal recognition and the visibility of my brand.
